Peacemaker: A Four Horsemen Universe novel
Release Date: August 25th Worldwide
Humans were expendable until they met Jessica Francis
Peacemakers. The Galactic Union’s most capable enforcers and resolute negotiators, their name alone elicits fear and awe among the Union’s citizenry.
Having completed a harrowing confirmation mission, Jessica Francis stands ready to become Earth’s first Peacemaker and believes obtaining her commission is a mere formality. However, certain members of the Guild question her ability. Worried that she’ll fall back on her mercenary ways, they want Jessica to prove her mettle at the negotiating table before she puts on the distinctive insignia of a Peacemaker.
Dream Worlds are terraformed planets inhabited by multiple species living and working in harmony. Operated by a governing Consortium, each carefully-controlled world is marketed as a paradise, but Araf is far from. The conditions are deplorable, and its three colonies are moving relentlessly toward all-out war over scarce resources and broken promises.
A three-way showdown for dominance looms – can Jessica prevent war and bring back peace? One thing is certain; she’s never walked away from a fight, and she’s not going to start now.
And now for something completely unexpected…
Last fall, my friend Chuck Gannon sent me a (currently unpublished) blurb for the upcoming VENDETTA PROTOCOL. At the end of the email, he mentioned that he would put me in touch with Chris Kennedy and Mark Wandrey who were putting together a military science fiction anthology that sounded like something right up my alley.
Not long after, I had an email from Chris and Mark detailing their plans to launch an anthology in their shared universe – The Four Horsemen Universe. When they sent the anthology information and a “primer” for their universe and its key worldbuilding features, I immediately had an idea. I finished a story relatively quickly and then I did something I never do. I sent them the rough draft. I wanted to see if my portrayal of their universe was accurate enough. My story about Earth’s first Peacemaker and the unfathomable crime she stops hit all the right notes.
Chris and Mark have built an impressive number of fans of their first series, The Revelation Cycle of which there are two books currently available: CARTWRIGHT’S CAVALIERS and ASBARAN SOLUTIONS. They responded with tremendous praise, and a completely unexpected offer. Would I like to write a novel in their universe?
I said yes.
I’m at work right now on PEACEMAKER, a Four Horsemen Universe novel that features Jessica Francis, Earth’s First Peacemaker facing down three rival colonies and their mercenary forces fighting over rights for the most basic need – water. In a future where humans are lauded for their improvisation and dedication, they haven’t seen anything like Jessica and when she discovers one of them knows the fate of her long lost father, nothing holds her back.
So, look for PEACEMAKER sometime late this summer and keep your eyes on this exciting military science fiction series!
Over the weekend, I received an email from Colorado Humanities that Sleeper Protocol was selected as a finalist for the Colorado Book Award in the Genre Fiction category. This is an amazing honor for “the little book that could.” There are no words to express my gratitude to all of you who’ve purchased the book and told a friend about it. There are exciting things to come. Stay tuned!
